On Thursday 16th April, Lock, Stock & Beer becomes the most science-backed dating experiment Joburg has ever seen…and possibly the most fun one too.

Expect a great crowd aged 28–38, drinks, chemistry, and the kind of flirting that feels effortless…PLUS free shooter on arrival 🕺

Matching is powered by Matchbox, a software using relationship science to find your most compatible match in the actual room. They’ve matched over half a million people across 40 countries… so yes, your love story might start with an algorithm, but the spark is still totally up to you.

How it works:

– When you arrive, you’ll take a matching questionnaire crafted by Matchbox’s relationship scientists (aka: people who want your love life to be less chaotic).

– The algorithm gets to work, using science, AI, and Nobel Prize–winning economics to find your best match at the event.

– After some mingling and mystery clues… matches are revealed.

What if I don’t get a match?

Event Structure:

6:00pm – Doors open, happy hour 6-8pm

7pm – Doors close, questionnaire closes

7.30pm – 1st Clue drops 👀

7.45pm – 1st match revealed

8pm – 2nd clue drops

8.15pm – 2nd match revealed

8.30pm – 3rd clue drops

8.45pm – 3rd match revealed

9pm – matching concludes … but the bar doesn’t close 😉

Late 20s to late 30s – the sweet spot where people actually know what they want.
